The History of MPS-NOORDERZON
- 1931 The Noorderzon, formerly known as Hilde F, was built in Veendam. The boat was built as a freight ship on the ship-yard by the Groll brothers. The Hilde F sails in the eastern part of Holland.
- From 1931 to 1999 the freight ship had many names; ending eventually with the Noorderzon, and idea of converting the boat into a 4-star hotel boat was born.
- 1999/2000 The renovation of the Noorderzon was finished and the hotel boat became fact.
- 2001 The current owners Bart Wijn and Leontien van Deuren bought the Noorderzon. They renovated the boat to a comfortable, light and proper hotel boat.
- 2002 Bart and Leontien started their first bike-and-barge holiday trip on the Noorderzon.
- 2004 The Clawa foundation awarded the accommodation of the Noorderzon with 4 ****! (more info: www.clawa.nl)
